Texas Mile MTI Corvette Top Speed Record

TEXAS MILE RECAP

MTI Racing sets record (0 to 1-Mile, 206 mph)
Goliad, Texas, 3 Days, 1 Mile, No speed limit. MTI Racing returned to The Texas Mile in search of the most prestigious acceleration challenge to date. Participants come from all edges of the United States, Canada and Mexico to test themselves and their motorized equipment to achieve their top speed in 1-Mile from a standing start. At 206 mph, MTI Racing now holds the record for the Fastest Naturally Aspirated Production car ever to run the Texas Mile.

Equipped with our 2006 Z06, we applied precise engineering principles in engine building technology, aerodynamics and transmission preparation. Powered by a 500cu.in. engine built by our very own MTI Machine Shop, Reese Cox piloted the Z06 down the 4-mile airstrip from a standing start to 206 mph at the 1-mile marker, while still accelerating at full force. Customers Mike and Bob brought their MTI Racing built Z06’s and ran 203mph and 198 mph, respectively. Among the paddock, there were steak BBQ’s and drivers telling tall tales. Motorcoaches everywhere! If you have never been to the Texas Mile, we encourage you to drive up and join us, especially for the hilarious “downtime festivities”. We captured a bunch of video using the HeroCam. Be on the lookout for that video.

All in all, a great time.
