Texas Mile MTI Corvette Top Speed Record

TEXAS MILE RECAP

MTI Racing sets record (0 to 1-Mile, 206 mph)
Goliad, Texas, 3 Days, 1 Mile, No speed limit. MTI Racing returned to The Texas Mile in search of the most prestigious acceleration challenge to date. Participants come from all edges of the United States, Canada and Mexico to test themselves and their motorized equipment to achieve their top speed in 1-Mile from a standing start. At 206 mph, MTI Racing now holds the record for the Fastest Naturally Aspirated Production car ever to run the Texas Mile.

MTI Racing GM Performance Parts For Your Corvette Camaro and More.

Equipped with our 2006 Z06, we applied precise engineering principles in engine building technology, aerodynamics and transmission preparation. Powered by a 500cu.in. engine built by our very own MTI Machine Shop, Reese Cox piloted the Z06 down the 4-mile airstrip from a standing start to 206 mph at the 1-mile marker, while still accelerating at full force. Customers Mike and Bob brought their MTI Racing built Z06’s and ran 203mph and 198 mph, respectively. Among the paddock, there were steak BBQ’s and drivers telling tall tales. Motorcoaches everywhere! If you have never been to the Texas Mile, we encourage you to drive up and join us, especially for the hilarious “downtime festivities”. We captured a bunch of video using the HeroCam. Be on the lookout for that video.

All in all, a great time.

Corvette Z06 Suspension Upgrade

Blue-Corvette-Z06-6
We just finished up a nice daily driven C6 2008 Corvette Z06 from TN. He wanted race car handling and a smooth ride, two things that are not easy to put together. The customer also wanted the Jetstream Blue Metalic Z06 to be very appealing visually. We suggested Pfadt swaybars and adjustable coilovers, topped off with some fat Michelin PS2 tires.

Blue-Corvette-Z06-3
The installation of the Pfadt Swaybars is straightforward and the products look fantastic in the car. The coilovers have great, precise instructions and are simple to adjust. We installed Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires for awesome ride comfort and grip. We used the 295s up front and massive 345s in the rear. That's 52 inches of rubber!! Shamwow!!

Blue-Corvette-Z06-4

We lowered the car on the coilovers about an inch to give it a nice stance and lower center of gravity, aligned it, and the car is on the road.

We now carry Pfadt Corvette Coilovers at MTI Racing.com!

NASA Road Atlanta March 2010 Round Up

Great time at Road Atlanta!

MTI Racing Corvette beats GTR, customers improve track times, and 2hrs of shananigans at the Japanese Steakhouse.

Although the weekend weather outlook was great, Friday's test day was a rainy mess. Cats and dogs fell out of the sky during the morning sessions. With "rivers" flowing through turns 1 and 4, we should have raced the MTI-Zodiac (see pic). Even the ambulance was sliding on track. The MTI Racing Corvette did a simple handling test of the car then put it in the trailer.

On Saturday, the weather cleared up to overcast with slight drizzles. We had six customers there running their Corvettes, having a blast. The track was mostly dry and all cars ran without any issues. Jeff ran on Hoosier tires for the first time, and loved them! Gene ran awesome as always, and Mike drove his 500cu.in. TVS Supercharged Z06 out for the first time. After qualifying last on the grid due to a timing error, Reese Cox drove the MTI Racing C6R up to the front in Saturday's race, giving him the fastest time of the day for Sunday's race.

After the racing was done, 13 people headed out for "high-spirited activity" at the Japanese Steakhouse. The social aspect at the restaurant is so much fun. Even Chad drove 1 hr from south Georgia to meet at the Steakhouse. Sushi here and there, who knows how many drinks were poured, and hilarious conversation. Two hours later, we all went home with stomach pains from good food and laughter.

Sunday is back to racing with Chad in his first test in the Silver C6R, and Reese beating the Nissan GTR for first place in the MTI Racing C6Z06, posting laptimes of 1:29. "Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting." - Steve McQueen
