MTI Racing 5th Gen Camaro Fun Fest

The MTI Racing FREE Camaro Funfest was a huge success! 72 Camaros attended the largest 2010 Camaro gathering to date. Enthusiastic Camaro owners lined up on the grid, ready to burn rubber and have fun on the track.

The Funfest began with the invasion of Camaros upon the hotels in Oxford, AL. Owners drove as far as Texas, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Florida. People met for dinner. The next morning, a large photo opportunity and meeting was held at the Dick’s Sporting Goods parking lot.

The Camaros then “caravanned” their way to the Little Talladega Gran Prix Raceway to meet MTI Racing and the Funfest. A train of approximately 50 Camaros going down the highway turned heads from everyone in town. When the Camaros arrived at the track, it was like a military assault force coming over the ridge. Over 20,000 horsepower in formation ready to attack the track.

After a brief welcome meeting, the Camaros were organized for the car show and the track festivities. Over 90% of the participants were geared up to drive the roadcourse! Groups of five Camaros followed behind an instructor car as they carved up the turns. Some guys were even drifting their Camaro, laying down tire marks coming out of the turns. Owners had Hero Cameras on the roof, videotaping their tracktime. Camaros parked all over the pitlane. Awesome photos, engines revving, the smell of exhaust – it was great! Everyone was having so much fun, it seemed as if nobody wanted to leave the track.

We even offered free track ride-a-longs in any of the MTI Racing Pace cars. Although the ride in the MTI Racing Corvette was fast, nothing compared to the sound of the 700hp MTI Racing Magnacharged Camaro with humongous Brembo brake upgrade! It was a good thing that the first ride-a-long victim wore brown pants.

After a few more track sessions, the weather turned gray and started to rain. We were about to do the slalom challenges, but the decision was made to gather into the classroom, give out awards, and see what the weather does. We gave out certificates for Best Unkept Camaro, Best in Show, Farthest Distance, and Most Enthusiastic Participant. The rain came down harder and harder, so we wrapped up the most exciting day in 2010 Camaro history.

All in all, the owners should be congratulated for their enthusiasm. We also must thank Magnacharger, Brembo, and Bilstein for their support of the Camaro community. They are the best in the industry. We couldn’t have done this much fun without them. We are already in the planning stages to make this a 2-day event in October 2010. Yes, that is 10/10/10.
