Where did these Corvettes come from?

The US GT Championship is an exciting grid of GT class racing cars including Vipers, Porsches, Lambos (Lamborghinis), Ferraris, Corvettes, BMWs. Hosted by North America’s most recognizable TV car guy, Tom Hnatiw, the US GT Series will be produced as web broadcasts and will be shot exclusively with GoPro Cameras. The series will also host coverage of the Dodge Viper Cup on the Versus network. NARRA offers unique and leading edge High-Performance Driving Schools and the Challenge HPDE Series programs along with their Racing Leagues.

The GT race brought out a fury of skilled drivers boasting credentials from World Challenge, Grand-Am, and American LeMans Series with names like Curran, Wittmer, Whelen, and Jackson. By the end, the Vette-Viper Wars had ignited and several local Corvette racers brought the heat.

The Corvette firestorm was led by Reese Cox in the MTI Racing C6R posting a laptime of 1:26.2. With the top 5 cars qualifying within 1 second of each other, Reese knew this was going to be a knife fight. Another note to consider was that the top Viper was a prototype ACR-X built for the American LeMans Series.

With a great jump at the start, the MTI Racing C6R of Reese Cox took the lead into Turn 1, chased by group of really angry Vipers. If snakes had claws, they would have ripped his rear bumper off. As the race goes on, Reese’s Corvette was able to pull away from the Viper of Ben Keating, with Kuno Wittmer hot on Keating’s tail.

When Turn 6 was oiled down by a prior engine failure, Cox and Keating got sideways while the Yellow caution flag waves in desperation to the rest of the field. Here comes controversy. No good race is without controversy. As Cox and Keating go off and come back on the track, Wittmer passes the two front running cars. Did he pass under Yellow or not? The officials were undecided, so the Pace Car picked up Reese as first with Keating as second. When the green flag resumed, officials mistakenly realized that Wittmer passed the pacecar and was shown as 1 lap ahead of the front running cars. Wittmer was given the checkered flag. Controversy? Hmmm….

“The MTI Racing Corvette did awesome today”, says Reese Cox. “I don’t know what happened there during their ruling, but we had a great time, and it was a lot of fun being here”.

The MTI Racing C6R Corvette:
Engine: RHS/MTI Racing LSX engine built in-house by MTI Machine
Suspension: Penske Corvette coilover setup custom-valved by MTI Racing
Transmission: Pfitzner/Keisler Dog Ring Transmission by MTI Racing
Brakes: Brembo Gran Turismo System for Corvette
Exhaust: American Racing Corvette Z06 Headers with modified muffler exits
Wheels: Forgeline Wheels for Corvette
Tires: Hoosier Tires

For more information on road racing Corvette parts, please visit www.MTIRacing.com. Driven by Chief Race Steward Terry Earwood, the MTI Racing Camaro was the perfect choice to control the pack of drivers itching to tear down the back straightaway at over 170mph.

Pace Car driver Earwood says, “Wow! I wish I had my helmet, I would’ve stayed out there and joined with the other cars!”

According to MTI Racing, the Camaro is equipped with a unique “Twin Charged” 1000hp engine. Twin 61mm rear-mount turbos feed a Magnuson TVS2300 Supercharger, blowing through a 6.2L LS3 engine with American Racing Headers. The Camaro also sports a host of suspension upgrades by MTI Racing.

The US GT Championship is an exciting grid of GT class racing cars including Vipers, Porsches, Lambos (Lamborghinis), Ferraris, Corvettes, BMWs. Nestled among the farmlands of Eastern Alabama, the 1.4 mile road course provided excitement and adrenalin for participants to run their American musclecars in a safe, casual setting. Ahhhh, the sound of horsepower in the morning makes for a great day!

Camaro drivers enjoyed an asphalt buffet of track driving all day long. Some drivers had to refuel several times before the day was done. MTI Racing also provided pace cars, a driving brochure and a couple of instructors to ride along with novices, to help them improve their driving skills. MTI Racing owner Reese Cox gave ride-a-longs in the 700hp Magnacharger Camaro as well as the Corvette Racecar. By the end of the day, most drivers improved their speeds and have the skills to become better drivers at home.

In the afternoon, a suspicious character called "the Stag" appeared to challenge anyone who dares to beat his laptimes. The Stag is a "Man-in-Black" villain, possessing illustrious driving talents, who can wring Formula 1 laptimes from a Yugo. He doesn't speak, he lets his driving do the talking. The Stag posted a laptime of 1:05.7 in the MTI Camaro. Then a battle ensued to knock the Stag off the leaderboard. The most valiant effort was given by Gary Pruyne in his Supercharged Camaro at 1:09. Worthy of recognition, but the Stag still reigns supreme.

Kooks Custom Headers sponsored a $250 Gift Certificate to be give away in a random drawing. After the collection box was shaken, and the winning ticket pulled, the Kooks Custom Headers Gift Certificate was awarded to Mike (Michael's Maro) Rafanan. Since he already has headers on his Camaro, Michael is going to install Kooks Headers on his Escalade SUV.

In the end, all Camaro drivers, spouses, and children had a great time at the MTI Racing Camaro Fest. It was a trackday extravaganza for most, and a glorious sunny day of relaxation for others. Either way, we look back on each moment of the day and laugh at the fun times with good friends. We look forward to doing the event again next year.

Thanks for the memories!

Click HERE to checkout the rest of our photos on Facebook!

MTI Builds Fastest Corvette At Texas Mile

Sunday morning 10/24/2010, MTI Racing set a new Corvette Record at Texas Mile.
Official speed was 216.2 mph

The record is for the Fastest Corvette of all time at the Texas Mile.

On Saturday, new records were set during practice runs at 213 mph. Spokes that reach all the way to the rim give this design a whole dimension. Each wheel is built with forged 6061 T6 centers, 6061 T6 spun rim halves, stainless steel aircraft-grade fasteners, and feature a powder coated or chrome finish with a polished, powder coated or chromed lip. The DE3P is available in sizes from 18x7.5 to 20x15. Since each wheel built is to order, Forgeline can offer special features like custom offsets, and a choice of center finishes. Click HERE to read More.

Forgeline GA3R After over 20 years of involvement with teams of virtually every sports car racing organization in the world, we have learned what it takes to produce a racing wheel that can withstand the fierce conditions of the sport. This knowledge has been applied to our latest and greatest, simply put - the best wheel we have ever made - the GA3R. Our new "I-Beamed Spoke" technology reduces weight and applies additional strength in rigidity within the spokes of the wheel. The hidden titanium assembly hardware not only gives it a smooth clean look, but also functions to ease the efforts of cleaning the wheel. In addition, the GA3R features an enlarged open center area for quick and easy lug nut removal, critical for quick pit stops. Another feature of the GA3R is the design of the center allows plenty of room for caliper clearance for that extreme brake fitment. We have also employed a new, proprietary, fast drying, super strength sealer for quick and easy repairs as well as it being highly resistant to leaks. And of course, the GA3R is produced using our traditional forging method utilizing 6061-T6 aluminum with heat-treated rim-shells. Just like any FORGELINE wheel, the GA3R will be fully customizable in fitment and finish, including center-lock applications. Click HERE to read More.

Corvette Short Throw Shifter

MTI RACING SIX SHOOTER CORVETTE SHIFTER

Fits C6 and C6 Z06 Corvette

This Corvette short throw shifter is specifically engineered to deliver a shorter throw without added effort. For many, one drawback of other shifters is difficulty entering certain gears. Our MTI Racing Six Shooter design does not rely on bias springs and therefore minimizes the effort to enter reverse or the 5-6 gate. Rather than adding unnecessary resistance we focus on synergy with the transmission. It is the culmination of a relentless search for a Corvette shifter that would overcome the drawbacks we have witnessed in other shifters.

In designing this Corvette short shifter we started from scratch, re-examining the material selection for every component and how each piece interfaces in the assembly. It is the only Corvette short shifter that fits exactly like stock, including a tight seal around the factory closeout boot without modification. Also unlike any other aftermarket shifter, our new shifter has an integral dust boot over the shifter mechanism; it's not an afterthought or complete omission like most.

Be sure to take a look http://www.mtiracing.com/Purchase/2005-2009-C6-Corvette/C6-Corvette-Transmission-Driveline-Parts/MTI-Racing-Six-Shooter-Corvette-Short-Shifter.html

Camaro Stainless Steel Brake Lines by MTI Racing

Brake with confidence! With give or take 4,500 participants and thousands of spectators at each stop, every car enthusiast was in good company. There is no place like the Power Tour to find so many die hard car lovers. The participants varied from those driving their grocery go getter Buick Roadmasters to million dollar museum quality street rods.

MTI Racing was lucky enough to run the Power Tour alongside Jerry Magnuson and his team from Magnuson Products, maker of Magna Charger supercharger kits. MTI's Magna Charger equipped 750hp 2010 Camaro spent the week sitting in the Magnuson booth along side Jerry's famous custom 32 roadster, dubbed Magnitude. Jerry's roadster would most likely get the award for most expensive car on the tour. With eight years of work from Jerry and Chip Foose, the roadster came in well over the one million dollar mark. It takes a true car guy or girl (Maureen Magnuson) to take a priceless hot rod with less than 20 miles on the clock on a cross country road trip.

The big highlight for everyone at MTI was meeting all the enthusiastic drivers that we ran into on the road and everyone who stopped by the Magnuson booth. We met drivers of all sorts, but we were especially surprised at the overwhelming amount of new Camaros, C5 Corvettes, and C6 Corvettes.

Below is a compilation of our favorite Power Tour Twitter, Flickr and Facebook posts during the week, enjoy:

Power Tour Day 2 (our first day) - Springfield, IL:

3am + 700+hp = Route 66 by noon
<img style="width: 400px; The team’s directive was to “keep people moving from each stop to the next,” says Gary Mulder of the Warren Tech Center. Whether you needed a set of tools, a trained set of eyes, or a team of mechanics to change your transmission, GM’s guys were there.

This wasn’t just any team either. GM brought out its top guns for the Power Tour: 2 techs from GM’s Desert Proving Grounds in Yuma Arizona, 2 Techs from the Milford Proving Grounds in Milford Michigan and 2 more from the GM Tech Center in Warren Michigan.

These very able mechanics were armed to the teeth with every tool imaginable. They drove in two specialized vehicles that could have passed for military convoy trucks. One was white and one was military green, both painted up to look like medical disaster relief vehicles.

If your car needed help, no matter what the make or model, GM was there to help on the 2010 Power Tour. Trust us, we don't say that often.

Mike and Travis have a 2001 Corvette Convertible that breathes fire through a 6.0L truck block, forged crank and pistons, and a stainless steel header system. On top of that sits a polished Procharger supercharger feeding a mean camshaft that makes the earth shake. Due to National Security concerns, we cannot disclose the ridiculous amount of power, but we can tell you this... If you sit shotgun in this car, you better have good bladder control.
Other modifications include an Aeromotive fuel system, driveline support bracing and transmission shift kit. Under the hood, MTI Racing Corvette Billet Accessories set off the engine compartment. It wears Aeroquip AN fittings everywhere, MTI Racing Billet Vent Tank, MTI Racing Billet Valve Covers with Billet Coil Brackets, and the red MSD coils top off the engine with attitude. This show winner also sticks to the ground with QA1 adjustable shocks, MTI Racing Big Red Corvette Swaybars, and 20 inch Nitto Invo Tires.

All though this C5 corvette may look like it is all show, it has plenty of go.

Corvette, Camaro, and GM Performance Parts and Service.

460 hp Camaro Camshaft Only - Customer Review

Alright everyone, this is an unedited customer review of our stage two camsaft in a 2010 Camaro LS3. Amazingly this car made 460 hp to the wheels with a simple cam shaft and MTI tuning!

Customer review:

        Hey all,

I recently took my car to MTI Racing to get some mods done to it and I figure Id be kind and post a review here.

When I dropped the car off, I already had these performance mods done to it (some cosmetic mods as well, but this is the important stuff):

Cold Air Intake from CAI, Inc.
Kooks 1 7/8 LT Headers with high flow cats
MGW Short Throw Shifter
GMPP Exhaust
Dyno and Tune
SLP Skip Shift Eliminator

AT MTI, they did the following:

MTI Racing Stage 2 Camshaft Upgrade
Install Richmond 4.10 gears (I bought these previously through ZZ Motorsports—great vendor)
MTI Sway Bars
MTI Racing Coilover Suspension
BMR Subframe Connectors
BMR Transmission Tunnel Brace

I’ll do the overall impressions first, then go into each mod real quick in detail:

OVERALL

I have to say, it’s a night and day difference. It was a smooth, powerful ride before. Its still smooth, although not as smooth as before. However, now it’s a total beast to drive. Great power, handles like a dream or a much, much smaller and lighter car (that large feeling you get with the factory steering is gone). I have great power on demand throughout the entire range, accelerating hard and driving fast and turning quick are just complete pleasures. I loved the car before but it is really awesome now.

As far as the dyno goes, they dyno’d my car with my original mods at 378 RWHP—which is lower than the original dyno I had done which put it at 409 RWHP, with mods. No big deal, every dyno is different, and it’s a tuning tool more than anything else. I certainly cant complain about the results. I now dyno’d at 458 RWHP, so it’s a significant change no matter how you look at it.

Also, the guys at MTI themselves were great. Each time I went over to the shop I got a tour of the shop itself, and Kevin and the owner Reese Cox himself showed me around. They’re all great guys—they’re just really into racing and cars, and seemed excited to be sharing that passion with customers. Dealing with them was a great experience. The A/C for some reason stopped working while it was there at MTI, and Reese himself came out to let me know that since I dropped the car off with working AC, Id get it back with working AC. They stayed after hours to fix it for me (which is great, because it’s a two hour hike from me to them). And all that was without me even asking. It was great customer service all around.

Only hiccup is my speedometer is now not in sync due to the 4.10 gears, but I should be able to take it back by this week to get it fixed, no issue.

CAMSHAFT

This thing is fantastic. The car has great power all the time. Idle is a little higher than before—although not too much—and while the ride is not quite as smooth as it was originally (not a big concern for me) there’s a satisfying old school muscle car feel to it. If old school muscle cars had this much power and fantastic handling. And while the power is great, the sounds the car makes are just as fun. The car now sounds like an old school muscle car both at idle and under acceleration, and I couldn’t be happier.

RICHMOND 4.10 GEARS

Another mod I would highly suggest. Launches are ten times easier than they used to be—the stock gears were kind of weird under heavy acceleration from first. Not anymore---these gears are smooth and responsive, and heavy acceleration in them from 1st to 4th is just a blast. My gas mileage hasn’t decreased that much, which is nice (though I don’t really care either way). 5th and 6th are also a lot more fun—they were definitely gutless gears stock—had to downshift to 4th to get really satisfying passing speed on the highway, for instance—but now even 6th can pass other cars with no issue, and DEFINITELY not a problem in 5th. My RPMs have obviously increased while cruising, but not bad at all- was expecting way worse. I still have to be doing around 65 before I hit 2000 RPMs in 6th, which is great.

HANDLING/SUSPENSION MODS

Makes more sense to do this together. The coilovers were a great buy—I swear its actually more comfortable than the stock suspension. Potholes that used to bump me pretty good I cruise over now. And that car sits lower and has a more aggressive stance, which is also cool. Overall, they just have a firm, sensitive, yet comfortable feel to them. Worth doing.

The sway bars and subframe connectors have really changed the driving experience of the car. It now feels very “point, shoot". It darts around like a much, much smaller vehicle, and the handling is very tight. Wheel hop is completely gone. MTI Racing’s Annual Dyno Day had well over 50 cars show up bright and early; the lineup included over 30 Corvette’s, 15 Camaros and Firebirds, a GTO, and many others. A large number of people just showed up to hang out and watch the cars lay down big numbers on the Dyno… or maybe they were just there for the free food; either way MTI Racing wants to thank everyone for showing up.

Here are some great highlights of the day:

2010 Silver Camaro SS:
This beautiful SS Camaro laid down almost 400 hp to the wheels with a basic induction system and exhaust headers.

Black 944 Turbo:
Ok MTI loves Corvette’s, but we do not discriminate when we see a 944 Turbo as clean as this one was.

Black 2008 Z06:
Proving the legitimacy of GM’s Z06, this black Corvette put down an amazing 462.64 hp and 446 tq in bone stock trim.

Atomic Orange C6 Sleeper:
Although it may look and sound identical to the thousands of other C6 Corvettes driving around your town, this Corvette will tear apart stock Z06’s from light to light. MTI Racing returned to The Texas Mile in search of the most prestigious acceleration challenge to date. Participants come from all edges of the United States, Canada and Mexico to test themselves and their motorized equipment to achieve their top speed in 1-Mile from a standing start. At 206 mph, MTI Racing now holds the record for the Fastest Naturally Aspirated Production car ever to run the Texas Mile.

MTI Racing GM Performance Parts For Your Corvette Camaro and More.

Equipped with our 2006 Z06, we applied precise engineering principles in engine building technology, aerodynamics and transmission preparation. Powered by a 500cu.in. engine built by our very own MTI Machine Shop, Reese Cox piloted the Z06 down the 4-mile airstrip from a standing start to 206 mph at the 1-mile marker, while still accelerating at full force. Customers Mike and Bob brought their MTI Racing built Z06’s and ran 203mph and 198 mph, respectively. Among the paddock, there were steak BBQ’s and drivers telling tall tales. Motorcoaches everywhere! If you have never been to the Texas Mile, we encourage you to drive up and join us, especially for the hilarious “downtime festivities”. We captured a bunch of video using the HeroCam. Be on the lookout for that video.

All in all, a great time.

Corvette Z06 Suspension Upgrade

We just finished up a nice daily driven C6 2008 Corvette Z06 from TN. We suggested Pfadt swaybars and adjustable coilovers, topped off with some fat Michelin PS2 tires.

The installation of the Pfadt Swaybars is straightforward and the products look fantastic in the car. Gene ran awesome as always, and Mike drove his 500cu.in. TVS Supercharged Z06 out for the first time. After qualifying last on the grid due to a timing error, Reese Cox drove the MTI Racing C6R up to the front in Saturday's race, giving him the fastest time of the day for Sunday's race.

After the racing was done, 13 people headed out for "high-spirited activity" at the Japanese Steakhouse. Testing and development was done at Road Atlanta, Barber Motorsports Park, and Little Talladega. After development, we verified our results using our in-house equipment such as our Engine Dyno, Chassis Dyno, Shock Dyno, GPS Data Acquisition, and our decades of racing experience. March 2009 MTI Racing attended the event as support for a customer for whom we had built one of our C6Z06 TVS cars. After attending the event in March as spectators MTI Racing decided the October event was a MUST, especially considering the release and MTI Racings purchase of the 2010 Camaro. While most of our testing on our 2010 Camaro has been at the road course and on the street, the Texas Mile was going to be a GREAT test of the HIGH speed stability and the overall power of our 2010 Camaro package.

Here are a few of our high powered cars:

Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.

MTI Racing has done high speed events is the past, twice attending the Maxton Mile in NC, with our C5 World Challenge car. Having run over 200mph at our second event at the Maxton mile we decided it was time to our C6 program the next level, 200mph in the standing mile. To help with motivating the MTI C6Z06 in the standing mile is a new engine package under the hood. Working with RHS a division of Comp Cams, MTI Racing has built a 500ci engine with the new RHS tall deck LS block. We decided the Texas Mile would be a great first in car test for MTI Racings NEW 500ci Dominator Engine Package.

During MTI Racings wind tunnel testing and on track testing we have found that what works for the Road Course is not always best suited for top speed runs. So this lead to some late nights at the shop trying to prep The MTI Racing C6Z06 and 2010 Camaro, to run as fast as we could get them. The C6Z06 had the most work of the 2 cars, because a week before the event the 500ci Dominator engine was on the engine Dyno and still had to be transplanted into the car. With the 500ci Dominator in the car making GRAEAT power, 660rwhp and over 600rwtq NA, it was time to get started on making the car as slippery as possible through air.

For both cars all Aero work needed to be as reversible as possible especially the 2010 Camaro with only 1200 miles on the clock. So mostly the recipe for the day was to include lots of plastic paneling and duct tape. With the 2010 Camaro the plan was to tape up as much of the car as possible, get the front as low as we could(thanks to MTI Racings Coilover kit), and to run the car with and with out the MTI Racing Rear Track Spoiler. On the MTI Racing C6Z06 we have a better working knowledge of the aerodynamics of the car having taken it to the wind tunnel numerous times. We were able to make some parts and pieces that would work for top speed running and road course racing.

Time to head for Texas, plan was to trailer both of the MTI Racing cars, but the plan doesn’t always work out (but it can be for the best), A Texas Customers C6 ZR1 ended up being ready to be shipped back to him in Texas, so we had three cars to be trailered to Texas in a 2 car trailer. But were we worried? Nope opportunity. The new plan was to drive our 2010 Camaro to Goliad Texas from Marietta Georgia. Time for some GREAT durability and drivability testing of Various MTI Racing 2010 Camaro packages. We have our NEW coilovers front and rear, an 8 rib belt system to go along with our TVS1900 super charger system, along with the rest of our full line of 2010 Camaro products.

Travel plan was to leave Wednesday, drive a couple hours, spend the night and spend all day Thursday driving to Texas. Leave Wednesday we did but at about 9:30 pm instead of earlier in the evening, but at least we made it out of GA Wednesday night. Thursday was the Long day of driving across I-10 which included a stop for breakfast/lunch for some great fried seafood, then later 95 degree weather in Louisiana which of course is where the Trailer decided to blow a tire. So hottest and most full stomach part of the trip so far and we are on the side of the interstate changing a trailer tire. But all ended well, got the tire changed and back on the road. While the trip across I-10 felt like FOREVER there was some nice scenery with some AMAZING bridges that we had to cross, at least one being over 10miles long, over some pretty wild looking swamp land. Thursday night made it to a friend’s house south of Huston Texas were we stopped to the night, which left just over 2hrs of driving at 6 in the morning Friday. Finally after 1009miles in the MTI Racing 2010 Camaro I had made it the Texas mile Friday at about 8am, which left us 45 minutes till drivers meeting.

The plan for the day Friday was to start out easy, running both cars down the track at about 75% to see how they felt. First car we were to run was the C6Z06; only prep work left that it needed for a first run was to remove the rear wing and tape up some of the nose of the car. First run for the 500ci Dominator engine felt GREAT, this power plant is THE NEXT BIG THING. Chassis wise on the C6Z06 we had some work to do to get the car over 200mph. Next up the Star Attraction for us for the weekend The MTI Racing 2010 Camaro, first few run we did nothing to the car it was exactly how I drove it 1009 miles to the event. Car ran over 170mph and was very stable at speed and easy to drive.

Time for some aero changes to the 2010, first round of changes was taping up the lower grill, lowering the front of the car and removing the MTI Racing Rear Track spoiler (made for down force). Last run of the day in the 2010 after the aero changes 181MPH and this is with the motor exactly the same as how I drove it to Texas, not even tuning changes. This engine package make over 600rwhp and got over 20mpg on the trip.

Friday night was spent at the track hanging out with all the people that spend the night at the event (mostly in RVs). Among those was MTI racing Customer Bob Grisoff who was at the event with his MTI Racing TVS power C6Z06. However he was unable to run Friday to a tire that he damaged unloading the car, but was exited about Saturday because he was having a new tire shipped in. Even though Bob was disappointed in not being able to run Friday he was still gracious enough to provide Dinner and beverages for the MTI Racing crew.

Saturday was to be the day of accomplishments for the MTI Racing cars, the 2010 Camaro had more than exceeded our expectations with the 181mph run on Friday but we had a couple more tweaks we wanted to try. After heavily taping the front of the car to make it as aero as possible and lowering the car even more, it was time for one last pass in the 2010 Camaro. Even with the little bit of headwind Saturday there was more Speed, 182 MPH, this is quite a bit of difference over the mid 150’s mph that the stock 5th Gen Camaros were running at the event.

Saturday at the Texas mile is an AWSOME day for spectators due to the much higher number of cars running compared to Friday and Sunday. However it limits the number of runs that each car can make, so only 2 were made in our C6Z06. First Pass of the day after some chassis tweaking and tapping, 199.3mph, SO close. This was also with a slight head wind. After hanging out for most the day, talking with all the great folks that were there and watching lots of sweet cars run, we decided it was time to make one last run. Going back and studying wind tunnel data there were a couple more areas on the car that we thought with the correct application of duct tape could make the car even faster through the air. So prep time for last run was mostly talk about the launch, try to heat the tires a little and if they still want to spin in first and second, short shift to third and get some power down. And BAM 200.1MPH.

Originally we had aspirations of over 205mph with the MTI RACING C6Z06, since we had already run 200mph at the Maxton Mile with out C5 World Challenge car, but as we found out there are 2 different animals. When you build the car the Run a little faster up top we found out it makes it that much harder just to get to 200mph, but we didn’t give up when after our first full run we were almost 10mph away from 200mph. We kept at it and worked the car till we found our Speed. Now at 2 different Event MTI racing hold the Fastest speed Records for NA Corvettes, Maxton mile in our C5 World Challenge car and Texas Mile in our C6Z06. For the March event at the Texas Mile, MTI Racing will be back with a vengeance, with a NA and forced induction corvette to see what records we can break next time. Thanks everyone for a great trip and great event.

MTI Racing 5th Gen Camaro Fun Fest

The MTI Racing FREE Camaro Funfest was a huge success! 72 Camaros attended the largest 2010 Camaro gathering to date. Some guys were even drifting their Camaro, laying down tire marks coming out of the turns. Owners had Hero Cameras on the roof, videotaping their tracktime. Camaros parked all over the pitlane. Awesome photos, engines revving, the smell of exhaust – it was great! Everyone was having so much fun, it seemed as if nobody wanted to leave the track.

We even offered free track ride-a-longs in any of the MTI Racing Pace cars. Although the ride in the MTI Racing Corvette was fast, nothing compared to the sound of the 700hp MTI Racing Magnacharged Camaro with humongous Brembo brake upgrade! It was a good thing that the first ride-a-long victim wore brown pants.

After a few more track sessions, the weather turned gray and started to rain. We were about to do the slalom challenges, but the decision was made to gather into the classroom, give out awards, and see what the weather does. We gave out certificates for Best Unkept Camaro, Best in Show, Farthest Distance, and Most Enthusiastic Participant. The rain came down harder and harder, so we wrapped up the most exciting day in 2010 Camaro history.

Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.

All in all, the owners should be congratulated for their enthusiasm. They are the best in the industry. We couldn’t have done this much fun without them. We are already in the planning stages to make this a 2-day event in October 2010. Yes, that is 10/10/10.

<add>
</add>

2010 Camaro Fun Fest - Hosted by MTI Racing

MTI 2010 Camaro Fun Fest photos are up!

Thanks to everyone for coming out.
